In a small, unassuming town lies the mysterious Archive of Forgotten Lives, a sprawling underground library where every book contains the untold story of someone the world has forgotten. These aren’t famous people or celebrated heroes but ordinary individuals whose lives, dreams, and struggles were erased by time. The archive is invisible to most, but once every generation, a Keeper is chosen to care for the books and ensure their stories remain preserved.
The protagonist, Eliza Winters, a disillusioned journalist who has recently lost her job, stumbles upon the archive while on a road trip to escape her crumbling life. Drawn to the strange, dusty shelves, she discovers a book with her grandmother’s name on it—a woman she was told died young and mysteriously. As she begins to read, the book seems incomplete, it is ending a blank slate.
The Keeper tells her that some books are unfinished because their stories have threads in the present. If Eliza wants the full story, she must follow the clues in her grandmother’s past and connect the dots. What begins as a personal journey quickly turns into a race against time, as Eliza discovers a shadowy organization determined to destroy the archive to erase their own shamefull past.
